Independent Sailing - Together
Flotilla ExplainedFlotilla sailing is a great way to vacation. You get your own boat to sail on your own or with your friends and family. But you also get the safety and help provided by a professional skipper and host on a lead boat.
You are met at the marina on your first day and helped get sorted with the boat you have chosen and booked.
Then every day there is a morning briefing for skippers and anyone to attend. Alex and Salome lead the meeting with information on the day ahead. Alex covers the route for the day. Places to stop for lunch or visit on the way, what to expect from the evenings' harbour or anchorage. He will look at the weather (well in advance) and decide on the best route and make sure it will be safe for everyone. Then Salome talks about the fun stuff to do on the way and on arrival at destination. She will discuss that nights dinner, normally in a pre-booked restaurant that we know for its quality and freshness. When you arrive at that evenings' destination Alex and Salome will be there to help you in to your pre-booked birth and acquaint you with the town and local amenities. Both Alex and Salome are there to answer any questions you may have and support you as you sail and have fun. They also help with any local paperwork and make all the bookings. |
What Happens on FlotillaNot only do you have the support from your lead crew, but you will also be sailing with like minded people in their own charter boats.
You may decide to sail together with other boats, meet up for lunch in a quiet bay (as below) or just hang out in the evenings over cocktails. Most evenings we all get together in a quality local restaurant for dinner. There may be a barbecue one evening of the week and at least one evening you will be independent so you can eat on board or as you please. Alex will typically pick a route for the week that suits the weather and conditions. But you do have the independence to go off on your own if there is anywhere that you particularly want to go. Salome will organise the dinners and outings. there are vineyards to visit and lots to see on the islands of Croatia. You may want us to book you a car to explore the area. There is a lot of history here too, from millennia. And in the BVI you have to visit the Baths and Saba rock, among many other great locations. Salome will also organise dive trips, snorkelling, paddle boarding and help with anything you have on your must do list.
People make life long friends on flotilla holidays. They often come back together and go on new adventures with their new friends. We all have sailing in common, so there is always plenty to talk about and stories galore. |
